The Program Manager is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating continuing education, in-service and staff development programs to ensure quality patient care. Establishes course outlines including schedules and objectives, rotation schedules and designs individualized orientation plans on didactic and clinical phases of the Operating Room.
Provides classroom instruction, didactic presentations, and information to Surgical Staff based on standards of practice to ensure quality patient care.
Evaluates educational needs of staff and recommends programs to meet those needs.
Prepares and presents educational programs to interested personnel as requested by other Medical Center Departments.
Attends professional meetings and serves on various Medical Center Committees to enhance and maintain an awareness of community and national standards and on new techniques and procedures. Maintains knowledge of current Nursing practice and remains clinically proficient in the role.
Assists in the development of annual departmental objectives by submitting area objectives and providing input into objectives for Surgical Services.
Participates in developing, revising, and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
Assists in preparation of annual budget through needs research and annual teaching needs analysis.
Completes special projects related to education, management and/or departmental responsibilities; prepares special reports for proposals developed by Education Department.
The ideal Program Manager candidate is someone with effective communication skills who is organized, flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
